โ ๏ธ Why Does It Happen?
The message "Trade Could Not Be Opened - changing the leverage to: X will trigger liquidation" appears when a trade fails to open due to high liquidation risk. This warning is reported by the exchange when Cornix attempts to place the orders for the trade.
This usually happens when creating or editing a trade, and the exchange identifies the requested leverage and position size combination as too risky. In these cases, Cornix cancels the trade to protect your funds.
๐ What Does It Mean?
The error usually occurs when there are inconsistent leverage configurations across open positions, especially on exchanges like Bybit UTA, where you can only use one leverage multiplier and leverage type across all open trades.
For example:
If you already have trades open with Cross 10x, and try to open a new one with Cross 25x or Isolated 5x, the exchange may reject it and return a liquidation risk warning.
๐ ๏ธ How To Avoid?
To avoid this issue moving forward, we recommend the following:
Go to your Signals Bots page.
Edit the bot youโre using and enable the Advanced Settings.
On the 'General' Section > 'Leverage' > 'Personal' > Set a fixed Margin Type and Multiplier values (e.g., Cross 10x or Isolated 20x).
This ensures all new trades use the same leverage configuration and avoids liquidation errors, especially when using Bybit UTA accounts.
